Bigfoot in Georgia

I have been very busy traveling around to other locations in other states these past few months.  One of the special and unexpected aspects about my journey of discovery is meeting and making friends with others from all over the country and world who have the same interests in this amazing bipedal primate.  I was invited to go camping in Georgia with some of these friends.  I flew there and absolutely enjoyed myself.
One of the most amazing things while camping there was hearing the vocals of the local Bigfoot every night.  One night in particular stood out to me.  I was hearing one scream to the right and then another screamed back that came from my left.  They did this screaming back and forth for a couple of minutes.  The last scream from the left ended and then the one on the right do several deep W  W  O  O  P  P-W  W  O  O  P  P.  Then nothing.  This camping trip was very special to me because I had never heard screams or yells from them before.  I have heard mostly whoops, grunts, growls, whistles and a couple of howls.
On my first day there I also had the pleasure of having one shadow me while 2 friends and I were exploring the woods not too far from our campsite.  A black one was seen coming out from the woods from the trail and walking over into the treeline.  Then I popped out a moment later on the trail!  My friends and I had found some prints and heard some movements walking with us while in there but had not seen one.

That to me explains how they can stay hidden from us.  To be able to move around and not be seen by the 3 of us while in the woods is amazing!

In my next blog I will talk about my adventure in Missouri.  This location turned out to be very special to me because a friend trusted me enough to take me to his location.  It has the same look and feel as my special location here in Colorado.  I fell in love with the place.  I have plans on going back.

So my friends:

"People from very different backgrounds and different parts of the world have described very similar creatures, behaviors in similar ways, and uttering some striking similar sounds.  As far as I am concerned, the existence of hominids of this sort is a very real probability."
~Jane Goodall on National Radio"

A renown chimpanzee expert goes on public radio and says this.  She must feel very confident of what she has learned about Sasquatch to say this.  The interviewer was very surprised by what she had said.

I have had the pleasure of sharing my clueless journey with you for over a year now.  The journey has been surprising, perplexing, exhilarating and an eye opener.  I have changed my mindset several times because of the evidence and experiences I have discovered.  I have learned a bit about human behavior from other people which I never wanted to learn and I have found some wonderful friends because of my journey.  It has been a fun and amazing time.

I would like to share one of my recent moments that will stand out in my memories for many years to come.  I had the amazing pleasure of seeing a very large brown Sasquatch in June.  Just a few short weeks ago.

One of our close friends who had some medical issues has not been able to go out in the field.  My husband and I have been going to one of his locations for him.  This location holds a very special place in my heart.  I learned by first hand knowledge what eye shine looks like at this location.  I have had some very interesting experiences there.

We had seen eye shine every night there.  Some fairly close but usually from a good distance.  So we knew they were watching us.  On our last evening someone had tried to use our campsite at midnight!  I asked them to move.  Reluctantly they did.  They ended up going down a very steep and rugged forest road that was more track than road.  You can travel faster walking than riding in a vehicle on that road.  It is bad.  They ended up going down about 1/4 mile or a little longer.  We couldn't hear or see them.  The next morning we started to pack up our campsite to go home.  My husband was in the tent folding cots and sleeping bags.  I had walked over to my car to check my cell phone.  I get sporadic coverage there.  It depends on the wind and weather.  I heard the rude campers coming up the forest road very slowly.  I could not see them because of the trees and foliage but I could hear the truck.  I glanced up and looked over in the direction of where I was hearing the truck but I knew I wouldn't be able to see it.  I saw what I thought at first was a woman looking at me because of the long hair on the head and shoulders but realized that it was covered in hair all over and realized it was a Sasquatch.  I watched it look at me and then turn towards the truck.  Then it simply moved further into the trees.  After it left I called my husband over.  He went over to the spot.  It stood beside a game trail and there was a large pine tree that it stood by.  With him standing there I was able measured the branches that was about the height of the brown Sasquatch.  It was 7 feet tall!  We used our range finder and measured the distance of 56 yards.  The coloring was a rich brown color and not a mahogany brown color that I have seen in the past.

Yeah Baby!!!  What a way to end a fun weekend of investigating.  We had one watching us and then watched the truck.  I do not mind those rude campers now.

I have talked in the past about seeing eye shine at a couple of locations that I go to.  I went one night this weekend to one of those locations.  Again the group at this location used their eye shine with us.  This is probably the best I have experienced.  I have had some great eye shine in the past but not this prolong and that many using eye shine at one time.

The large pine tree in the middle was where we saw most of the eye shine.  We believe they came up the valley behind the tree and came to our left.  They used this tree to keep an eye on us.  There was one always watching us from this spot.  What was unusual was that the other ones used their eye shine too.  We watched them with their eye shine move from behind this tree and move to the right where we had left them a gift of food.  We watched them move!  At one point we had 5 maybe 6 of them shining their eyes at us.  They had surrounded us to our left, in front, to the right and behind us.  They kept the eye shine on while moving around us.  We watched one at a time go to the food.  One would move across the open space and then another.  It was amazing.  No fear.

We were there for quite a while.  When we walked back to our campsite one walked to the right and parallel to us.  What was neat we heard muffled noises the whole time while sitting at the camp fire.  These noises were yells, howls, muffled voices and whoops.

Yep it was a good trip.

One of the advantages of being with an organized group of researchers is the ability to go out and do some day time investigations at the last minute.  I did this on a Monday holiday in January.  Here in Colorado this winter the mountains have been hammered with snow.  Every weekend when I had planned to go look: it was snowing or had just snowed several inches of the white powdery stuff.  This makes it hard or impossible to get into the spots I wanted to get into.  So I felt lucky to go on this Monday holiday.

We drove to one of my favorite spots but we were not even able to get off the road.  The snow was so deep.  So we went to another favorite spot.  That is one of the things I like about Colorado.  I have many choices to choose from.  Thank goodness.

We were able to find some more new tree breaks.  We explored a spot that another investigator had taken a picture that had Bigfoot in it.  As we were walking around the area, I was getting whiffs of what I would call dead, skunky, dog poopy smell.  I am pretty sure there were a couple of them watching us as we climbed into this area and explored it.  There were signs of them every where.  Tree breaks, Big X's, tee pees and arches.

It was starting to get dark so we decided to visit one of our campsites close by.   We parked and then did some whoops and knocks to announced our presence there.  I played my harmonica.  I noticed some eye shine directly across from me.  So I continued to play.  After a while it became so cold we jumped into the truck to warm up.  This is one of the spots in the forest for some reason we are able to get cell phone coverage.  So what do we do?  We check our i-phones.  While we had our heads down looking at our phones, a very large dark shape ran by on the left and in front of the truck.  It looked like it was upright and not 4 legged like a deer or elk.  What is funny was our reaction.  We both remarked that we saw a large shape run in front of us, looked around for a few seconds and then resume looking at our phones.  We both have been doing this for a while and knew it was gone and there was no reason to be afraid.

Cool.  You never know what will happen when you go out.  I consider this one of those treasured moments. I have never experienced something like this before.  I have read about it but that was all.  Our forest friend saw us with our heads down looking at something and decided to do a run by to see what kind of reaction he/she would get.  Love it!!!!!!!!!

How did I know this location would be a good one to explore?  What was the contributing factor for this location?  I can answer that with 2 simple reasons:

  • 2 reported sightings within 7 miles.
  • One tree break next to a year round stream.
The sightings gave me a general location to look.  Then I drove around on forest back roads looking for the "squatchy" spot.  My definition of a squatchy spot is to look for aspen and pine mixed together, ravines, year round water source such as a creek or stream and deer/elk scat with some type of tree structures.  I spotted a tree break next to a little stream that was clear and year round.  Literally this location called out to me.  I have learned to listen to my gut feelings while out in the field.  Within 3 miles of this "squatchy" spot we have found many other signs of them but for some reason this specific location has the most.    We have had knocks and eye shine at this location twice.  Pay dirt.

Why do some investigators able to find locations of Bigfoot related activities while many do not?

Is there some mystery to this success?

In my 2 years of investigating I have been fairly successful in being able to locate Bigfoot activity.  Is there a reason why I have been able to do this with some degree of success?
  • I do my homework.  I will research areas of known activities.  Maps and the Internet are crucial resources for me.
  • Then I will actually drive and look at promising locations.
  • Signs of Bigfoot activity at promising locations will tell you if you are looking in the right direction.
  • Then getting in there and exploring the location.
Good investigations of new locations if done right take time, effort and legwork.  This needs to be done before you really get in there and try to pinpoint the group and to establish contact.  That to me is the formula for success.  I feel that all of these steps are needed for researchers.

So gather your information and get out there!  You will not regret it.  This journey is fascinating and compelling.

I had a unique opportunity to go explore an area that is privately owned.  It is fairly close to National and State forests.  What I liked about this place was that it has no accessibility to other people.  Much different to public lands.  This property is beautiful.  Very rugged and steep.  Several ravines runs through it.  It has one natural spring and a couple of streams.  Signs of elk and deer every where.  Perfect.

I went in there with 2 other investigators.   We found signs of them using the property.  Several of the signs found I think are territorial markers.  Good signs to see when you go into a new location.  We also have the opportunity in the near future to camp in several locations on the property.  We will have to be careful though there are mountain lions at this location.

This will be a new experience for me.  I can't wait to do more exploring and to camp at this location.

Telling the difference

Today I had gone with a friend to a location that I had previously found Bigfoot signs while out doing some sight seeing with my dog, Manny, 14 months ago.  I had always wanted to go back but with my limited time to squatch and many other Bigfoot obligations it was put on the back burner until today.  I had given this tip to my friend so he had a place to investigate.  I went today with him to see about the possibilities.  The signs were still there.  This will be a good starting place for him to get his feet wet investigating.  My plan is to help and support him at this location.

I came across this snow track of prints that was going down towards the water.  I was excited at first.  It had a 5 foot stride between 3 of the prints.  Then I looked closer but something did not seem right for it to be Bigfoot related.  Usually you are able to follow the tracks for a distance.  This track of prints seemed to change to the left and to the right of the 3 middle tracks.

When I looked closer I discovered that it was a track of deer prints.  In the middle where it was at least 2 feet deep the deer had jumped from one spot to the other.  That was the 3 I had first seen that was 5 feet apart.

I was a bit disappointed that it was deer tracks but that is the nature of investigating.  A lot of work with little result.  I rather problem solve correctly than pass incorrect data off as Bigfoot related when in reality it is not.  If you are evidence driven as I am then you have to learn to read what the forest tells you.  All living things in the forest leaves signs.  It is up to me to know the difference.

The day was a good solid day.  We were able to find a few signs of their presence.  Just nothing sensational as a snow track of prints.  There was a spot that does show some promise of them using.  We will keep an eye on it and hopefully there will be a track there for us to find and photographed in the next few months.

Onward we go.

I started this blog to document my experiences while out investigating Bigfoot.  I was completely ignorant about anything Sasquatch.  When I started I was so frustrated at the lack of knowledge and field experience I had.  I wanted help but did not know where to turn or who to contact.  This frustration fueled this blog into fruition.  My hope is that others who are experiencing this frustration will be able to use my blog to help them in their journey of discovery.  I will be honest with you.  I have come a long way in my journey but I will never be an expert.  I feel I will always be clueless because there are always more questions than answers in my quest.  When I figure out one thing then another 10 questions emerge.  That is the nature of this endeavor.  That is why you have to be patient and willing to work hard for little results.

So with my limited amount of knowledge, what can I tell you that will help you the most?  The most important aspect of this endeavor is realizing that you are not in control when you are investigating.  I cannot make them do anything.  Much less show themselves.  That is why they have been so successful in staying hidden.  All I can do is to be in the right place at the right time and cross my fingers.  By studying primate behavior and knowing something about them can help but in the end it is their choice.

I feel there is a reason why people end up doing stuff such as this.  In my next blog I will go over what I take with me while out in the field.  This is important if you are evidence driven like I am.  How do you know the size of prints or the distance or height of found evidence without having the correct tools to help you?

So my friends we will continue this journey together.  Sharing and learning together.
